No! It was drier than the dead potted plants on your window sill. You can find the rest of it in the trash.
(that's what I wanted to say; but in reality I nodded yes, and said
“ Mmmm chocolate is my favorite”)
Why do we have to pretend to like bad cooking? Subjecting yourself to an upset stomach to spare someone's feelings?? This has gotta stop. From now on when the cook asks, I'm being truthful. No more heaping spoonfuls of half assed compliments that give the domestic flunkee a false impression that their dish is a real "crowd pleaser."
Before you know it, you've created a monster that brings a heaping plate of raisin bars to Thanksgiving every year! Nobody likes raisin bars!!! They're dry and unappetizing. Raisins are the most useless fruit on the planet...they don't deserve to be the main ingredient in a dessert! They're a "helper ingredient" that belongs in a bagel or oatmeal cookie (hopefully in groups no larger than five). The bearer of the raisin bars is your great aunt who doesn't recall much; except for that one time some loud mouth said, "What's this? Raisins? (bite) Not bad." Honestly, I don't think she knows my first name or how we're related.
So the next time someone plates me up a dessert I didn't ask for, I'm going to tell them after the first bite why I'm unable to choke the rest down...and introduce myself... and tell her she's my great aunt.
